how long does it take to ship a pillow
If we have already in stock, it ships in 24 hours, if we have to make a fresh new one, it can take about a week or less, to ship out.
Hi, I just wondered if your kapok had to be replaced after a certain amount of time. I purchased 2 pillows for my kids about 1.5-2 years ago and I had so much excess fiber, that I stored it and was now going to replace the fiber in their pillows with the kapok I had stored. From everything I read on your website, I didn’t see there were any concerns with the length of time you had the fiber but I just wanted to be sure. Thank you!
Hello Alex,
We do offer care instructions but due the fact that it all boils down to wear and tear, we do not suggest a particular time frame to replace or update your pillow. Funny enough, we are about to release an email news in a few minutes that touches up on this. If you are not on our mailing list, I can forward it to you as soon as it is available. With that said, our own customers keep their WLH pillows for a few years before they decide to upgrade them or replace them. I do hope this and the information below is helpful:
The best way to adjust your zippered White Lotus Home pillows is to:
1. Stand the pillow up so that you are facing the Zippered part.
2. Sift and shake the fibers inside so that they are away from the Zipper before you open the zipper. This will avoid the fibers from getting caught on the zipper
3. Remove 5 handfuls at a time, feel free to save the fibers removed, for future use. They can be stored in a box, paper or plastic bags
4. Give the pillow a try and it should work, if not, try #3 again as many times as necessary to meet your preferred conform level
5. Need more fiber to increase the fill? No problem: https://www.whitelotushome.com/wholesale-fibers/
Thank you for choosing White Lotus Home!
Hello! I saw that the kapok in your pillows is not organic. Is it treated with any chemicals or pesticides, or is it essentially organic just without the certification?
Yes, Great catch! Since Kapok grows freely in the rainforest there is essentially no need for certification, please let us know if there are any other questions.
Aloha, are these naturally mildew resistant? Would they be okay in high humidity environment?
Aloha,
We have a lot of great details about kapok under Fibers, but kapok grows in rainforest and it is pretty resistant to heat and mildew: Nothing compares to kapok. Softer and lighter than down, perfectly compressible for pillows, and naturally harvested from the Ceiba tree, kapok is the ideal filling for a pillow. Kapok is harvested from seed pods that are dropped from trees in tropical rain forest regions, meaning your purchase of kapok is helping to preserve the life of a tree and encourage local economies in Indonesia and other tropical regions.
Almost no work is required to turn the raw material into bedding fiber: it's manually picked clean, spun, and sent to us! If you like clean and sustainable products, you'll love kapok. And if you love soft pillows, you'll settle for nothing else.
HISTORY OF KAPOK: Kapok fibers were in the all-natural life preservers used by G.I.s in World War II.
In the 1920, explorers conquering Mt. Everest typically wore high-altitude boots with kapok insulation, leather outers, gaiters and crampons
Kapok fibers are one eight (0.08) the weight of cotton.
Kapok was one of the first ancient non-food plants cultivated across Southeast Asia.
Kapok was routinely used for pillows before goose down; Kapok is Retro Green.
HERE’S A GOOD ONE THAT SUPPORTS WHY KAPOK IS BETTER THAN GOOSE DOWN:
In theory, as the down moults naturally, the birds shouldn't mind if it’s taken. The reality: goose down is the byproduct of keeping millions of birds around the world in cages, the lion’s share before they are slaughtered for cheap meat, or foie gras. Therefore, buying down products carries the high risk of making you complicit in this industry.
My 3 year old is potty training and she sat on my pillow (I didn't know she was sitting on it, I thought she was just sitting on my bed) and accidentally peed on it. I sprayed it with a cleaner that is meant for bedwetting and pet accidents, but I don't know if that is enough to get it clean... What should I do? Do I need to buy a whole new pillow? :/

Some sunlight or dryer on air only will help!
Thank you, Marlon
How do you store excess kapok?
It can be stored in a sealable bag, even like a zip lock bag. Thanks!
Is The kapok White Lotus Home uses in pillows or to sell as a bulk fiber, certified organic?
The kapok we have been using since 2008 or so, is not organic certified. It is a fiber that grows in the rainforest just like bamboo and there has never been much of a request or need for organic certification.
It comes from Indonesia, since it does not grow in large quantities in the USA due to our lack of rainforest weather. However, we are able to get it GOTS Certified organic as soon as we are able to buy over 20 tons at a time. Something we are going to consider doing in the next year or so. Nothing compares to kapok. It states that you do not recommend washing these pillows in a washing machine. How should they be cleaned after months of use?
Care and Cleaning: Pillows, Duvets, and Bedding
As they are raw, minimally processed fibers, our products cannot be completely submerged in water without damaging the fibers within. This includes pillows and duvets.
We recommend spot cleaning your White Lotus Home pillows, duvets, and bedding with a solution of 3 parts water to one part vinegar. Spray the solution onto the stain and expose to sunlight. Let dry and repeat until the stain fades and odors dissipate. You can also substitute vinegar with a mild laundry detergent. For surface stains, hydrogen peroxide works well for blood, whereas rubbing alcohol can help to remove oils from cosmetics.
Bedding should not remain damp, as it may encourage uneven wear or mold growth. Following a spill or cleaning, dry any moisture by placing the item in the sun or by using a hair dryer. Ensure it is fully dry before re-adding sheets or protective covers, such as our Barrier Cloth Covers.
Please note that these suggestions are at your own risk. Results may vary.
Refreshing Pillows & Duvets
Some fibers, particularly kapok, can absorb the natural oils that keep our face and skin healthy. To restore loft and fluffiness, pillows may be placed in the dryer on the "Cold Air/ Fluff" setting for 15 to 20 minutes. Specially-designed wool dryer balls or clean tennis balls can aid in fluffing the inner fibers. To prevent any damage to the inner fibers, never use a heated setting.
I want to buy two pillows for my 3 year old and 5 year old. I want a standard size but I don’t know what firmness to get or if I should go with the zipper option?
A soft filled Kapok should work for either of them. The zipper is always good to have if you need to remove some of the fill or add to it if needed. Thanks!
What is the thickness/height of a firm kapok pillow? Thanks.
A FIRM Kapok pillow would have an estimated thickness/height of approximately 6". Please let us know if you have any further questions by emailing info@whitelotushome.com or calling 732-828-2111.
where are you pillows made? in china?
No, all of our pillows are handcrafted by us in New Brunswick, NJ. :) All made in the USA!
Hello! Are the Kapok pillows treated with flame retardants?
No, our Kapok pillows are all natural and not treated with any flame retardants. Thanks!
Do you treat the kapok fibers in any way with any product? How are they processed?
Kapok grows in the rainforest so it is not treated and we do not treat it with anything either. Kapok fiber is manually picked clean, spun, and sent to us in bales that we open up and manually separate and fluff up to use in our pillows. Please let us know if you have any further questions. You can call us at 732-828-2111 or email us at info@whitelotushome.com.
I purchased two kapok pillows about a year ago and they are all lumpy now. Do you have any suggestions? I have been waking up with my ears hurting because the pillows are so hard. :( Thanks! Courtney
